Talented…Eidene Timbe
The 23-year-old, who came into the limelight in 2007 with a string of hits including Hazel Eyes, Nobody and One Heart, has been working overtime in the studio on her new album after the success of her 2007 debut.
Tentatively titled Heartbreaking and due on Valentine’s Day next month, the project is a follow-up to her successful first effort.
During an early Saturday evening date at the Book Café last weekend, the University of Texas fine arts and music graduate said the upcoming album would have 10 songs including a collaboration with Sam — son of music legend Oliver Mtukudzi.
To help make larger waves on the market Eidene, whose goal and dream is to travel and conquer the music world, says she is now holding live shows backed by the band Mnandi, and other session musicians like multi-talented Smiley Murray who does a very commendable supporting job on the mike and congas.
“Tracks on the new offering include the title track Heartbreaking, which has received massive response from fans during our recent live shows,” she said.
And the pint-sized bundle of energy, who cites Brenda Fassie, Mariah Carey and Madonna as among her major influences and inspiration, says after a tough, challenging 2008 she hopes 2009 will be be a better year.
