Tuku back by popular demand

This will also be the first time that he will appear on stage in Zimbabwe after touring the UK, Colombia, United States and Canada.
Last year, his act opened the festival and late comers missed the opportunity to see the grand master in his jazzy mode.
At this year’s festival, Tuku will perform towards the end of the programme and will present an all-hit set. This will give a party flavour to the evening and dancing and big fun will characterise the festival.
The festival will bring together some of Zimbabwe’s and the region’s living legends and fans should expect fireworks from Dorothy Masuka, Tanga WekwaSando, Amanda e la Banda (Italy) as well as top artistes from South Africa and Nigeria.
Dorothy Masuka will be honoured at the festival’s awards ceremony to be held on April 14. She will also perform at the festival’s main event on April 16.
Tanga WekwaSando will add flavour with his authentic home-grown township music. Tanga’s laid-back smooth jazz and some of his notable hit songs include Hapana Asina Wake and Nyenyedzi.
Other local artistes that will share the stage at the grand jazz showcase include Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana, Chiwoniso Maraire, Dudu Manhenga, Patience Musa and Claire Nyakujara.
To further spice up the festival, DJ Hilton Mambo will also perform in-between sets where he will be playing music from his wide collection and talking to the audience. Seasoned radio DJ and presenter, Comfort Mbofana, will be master of ceremonies.
Harare Jazz Festival has secured a new home at Rainbow Towers. The festival will be held in the lush green surroundings of Rainbow Towers gardens under a marquee which can accommodate over 2?000 people, seated. The festival will combine innovative décor and facilities to create a carnival atmosphere in line with international festivals.
The festival is growing thanks to support from major sponsors: Savanna Tobacco Company, Lion Larger, Coca-Cola Zero, Rainbow Towers, Mahaka Media and the Italian Embassy.
