Zahara loves Zim

Promoters of the show, Hardcore Entertainment, told The Financial Gazette Weekend yesterday that, although Zahara was coming staring from a tour to the US this week; she could not disappoint her Zimbabwean fans and therefore decided to honour her promise to play double-billed performances in Harare and Bulawayo tomorrow and Saturday.
“Getting her to come down this side (for the second time) was not as easy, as she has a tight international schedule. However, she has told us that she regards Zimbabwe as her second home and therefore she will be able to perform at Fusion, Borrowdale racecourse, on Friday and then in Bulawayo on Saturday,” said the promoters’ spokesperson.
So in love with this country she is, that 24 year-old Zahara has decided to travel all the way to Bulawayo by road on Saturday so she can have a full view of the countryside along the way, the promoters say. Zahara’s visit has been made possible through Hardcore’s partnership with Delta Beverages’ through their Redds cider drink; as well support from other partners such as Premier Auto and other service providers.
“While some lucky revellers will be able to win various spot prizes as they sample the Redds drink, others will win VIP tickets to a holiday resort in Kariba, and others will stand a chance to mix and mingle with the artist in the VIP section at the Harare and Bulawayo venues,” said the promoters.
As part of her itinerary, Zahara is expected to hold a press conference tomorrow afternoon, before her performance, billed at around 10.45 pm. Zahara’s manager, Tenny Tshabalala told The Financial Gazette Weekend that the artist will bring along her whole entourage and would use this gig to celebrate her winning of the South African Music Awards in May this year.
The promoters also promise that both the Harare and Bulawayo venues would be equipped with the best sound and lighting equipment and would be able to hold large capacity crowds.
“The Harare show kicks off at 5pm on Friday with the Fusion resident band, followed, at various intervals, by local artists such as 14-year old, Thamsanqa Moyo, Budda Knox, Roki, Alexio  Kawara, Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana and dancehall star Winky-D. Fans must also expect fireworks with South Africa’s lady disk jockey, DJ Cream who is also coming,” the promoters say.
Born Bulelwa Mkutukana on November 9, 1987 in the Phumulani informal settlement outside in Eastern Cape, Zahara started singing in a school choir at the age of six. Her guitar ingenuity is basically self-taught but has also managed to get further training from other musicians.
