HICC refurbishment complete
LEADING Hospitality concern, Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) has completed the refurbishment of the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) at a cost of US$400 000 ahead of the 18th edition of the AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA) international conference.
The conference will run from November 29 to December 4.
The completion of this refurbishment will result in the biggest hotel in the country assuming an international look and feel that matches leading hotels worldwide.
Speaking to journalists during a tour of the facilities on Tuesday morning, RTG Corporate Communications and Innovations Manager Pride Khumbula said after the refurbishment, the hotel will be able to host ICASA and other international conferences.
The multi- award winning hotel’s conference centre now meets and exceeds guest expectations.
“We are expecting a new look conference centre, refurbishment was done on seats, bathrooms, lights and floors. All the 1 000 ground floor seats were redone by local companies. We have completely overhauled
rush rooms. We have re-done the entire floor including the stage in the main auditorium and have improved lighting,” she said.
The exercise included stripping down the sinks, urinals, toilets, tiling, ceilings.
