Prospect Lithium marks international women’s day

GOROMONZI: On International Women’s day Prospect Lithium celebrated women by taking time out to acknowledge and recognise female staff accomplishments. The Prospect Lithium female staff members were honoured with hampers, flowers and cards.
Stakeholder department representative, Miss Chido Shayanowako said, “The International Women’s day is a unique opportunity for PLZ to show their appreciation and support for women by celebrating the day in meaningful ways.”

International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

PLZ Human Resources personnel, Sofia Badza said the company has provided a platform where there is no job specifically meant for men. They value women and are given equal employment opportunities as their male counterparts.

PLZ Nyasha Chauneita, Assistant Electrician said, ‘’As women in mining it is our nature to perfect things and make sure the work is to standard. I really appreciate PLZ, it has shown gender balance by having women in the technical side.’’ She however highlighted that there are some culture differences between the Chinese and Zimbabwean men in the treatment of women. Adding that Zimbabweans should emulate the Chinese men’s respect.

Vivian Savadye, employed as a Translator says PLZ women are given platform to showcase their talents and one can actually see gender equality.
She said at a national scale and at corporate level there is need for all to take the next step to create a great workplace for women through working together with deliberate intention to make the workplace a better place for all genders.

International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is an opportunity to recognise the progress towards gender equality and to rally to further action. The day is celebrated annually on March 8th. It was first celebrated in 1911 when more than a million men and women in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland participated in International Women’s day activities.
