Top Companies preps on course

PREPARATIONS for this year’s edition of the Top Companies Survey to be held on October 6, 2023, have reached an advanced stage, with judges and analysts this week finalising a list of winners after a gruelling adjudication process in the past few weeks.

The Top Companies Survey is produced annually by the country’s iconic business and financial weekly, The Financial Gazette, in partnership with investment giant, Old Mutual.

The Financial Gazette’s general manager sales and marketing, Shingirai Chirikuutsi, said the preparations are at an advanced stage and this year “we expect the awards ceremony to be bigger and better as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of working with investment giant Old Mutual Zimbabwe.
“We have made the necessary preparations to make this year’s event another spectacle to remember as we honour Zimbabwe’s top performers for 2022. We are excited and confident that this year’s event will proffer solutions for growth, hence our theme: Sustainable innovation for growth,” said Chirikuutsi.
“We are excited to be playing a part in positioning brands for nation-building,” he said.
The survey recognises companies that have performed exceptionally well on the ZSE and in the banking and insurance sectors in a particular year.
The aim of the survey is to promote good corporate governance practices, ethical conduct, and corporate social responsibility while providing a platform for networking among corporate leaders and other invited guests.
The survey promotes a strong corporate sector and provides opportunities for Zimbabweans.
Launched in 1980, the Top Companies Survey had run for 28 years before its temporary suspension in 2008 due to an economic crisis, which started in 2000 and worsened in 2008 before receding on dollarisation in 2009. The Top Companies Survey was re-launched in 2014 in partnership with Old Mutual Zimbabwe, the country’s largest investor on the ZSE.
A panel of judges and analysts, independent of both The Financial Gazette and Old Mutual, come up with the judging criteria and categories for the top awards.
