IT is not everyday that you interview global celebrities face to face, especially those you see on television and are many kilometres away.
The closest thing or closeness one would ever imagine about such global celebrities apart from seeing them on television or YouTube is in magazine or on pastor.
Thank’s to MultiChoice I has a chance to talk to WWE superstar, Drew Gulak.
Gulak is a well know American professional wrestler. He is signed to WWE, performing on its Raw brand in the cruiserweight division.
Previously, he was best known for his work in Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), where he is a one-time CZW World Heavyweight Champion, two-time CZW World Tag Team Champion, one-time CZW Wired TV Champion, and 2005 Chris Cash Memorial Battle Royal winner.
He also worked for other independent promotions including Chikara, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, and Evolve.
“My visit here (South Africa) has been amazing, everyone I have meet has been so kind. We have been to Cape Town and Durban, the crowd has been electric we could not have asked for more,” said Gulak who said he would want to come back to Africa.
“I grew up watching Hulk Hogan and the Undertaker, they were my role models. I would imitate their moves often as a child,” he said.
Drew GulakDrew Gulak who is eyeing the Cruiser Weight Championship says he would be a teacher if it wasn’t for his unconditional love for wrestling.
“I train hard to be in shape, I love every moment of the sport and the worst part is when I get injured and away from the ring for a long time,” he said
Gulak is a big sportsman having grown in  Philadephia a big sports center  and is a big basketball fan who grew up playing baseball.
“Being a professional wrestler is all about continuous training; for me personally  I’m at the gym for at least two hours a day. I indulge in different exercise routines, diet etc. I’m always thinking about what I will do in my next match. I watch wrestling all the time I love it and its much pretty party of my training routine,”
Gulak says he began training for a career in professional wrestling in 2004 at the Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) Wrestling Academy. He made his debut for CZW on September 10, 2005, at Down With The Sickness 4-Ever, a tribute show to Chris Cash, winning a battle royal.
Gulak was quickly paired up with fellow CZW Wrestling Academy alumnus Andy Sumner and, known as Team AnDrew, the duo captured the CZW World Tag Team Championship twice before disbanding in 2009.
“ I encourage every child to follow their dreams and for parents or guardians to support them all the way, who know they could be the next best thing in the sport,” Gulak said.
Gulak then moved into singles competition following the dissolution of the team, and in early 2010, he won the CZW Wired TV Championship by defeating Tyler Veritas at a television taping at Swinging for the Fences.
Gulak held the title for 429 days, defeating wrestlers including Nick Gage, Zack Sabre Jr., Rich Swann, and Sumner. During his reign as the Wired TV Champion, Gulak began to characterize himself as a political leader and activist within CZW, speaking out against ethical issues of violence, including CZW’s famed ultraviolence and the frequent manhandling of company referees, specifically targeting the actions of long-time fan favorite Nick Gage.
