Tobacco sales surge 85 percent

In a statement released at the weekend, the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) said more tobacco had been sold this season than last year, but the total market value is lower.

TOBACCO sales volumes have increased significantly this season, with 77 million kilogrammes (kgs) sold as of this Tuesday, up 85 percent from 41,61 million kgs recorded during the same period last year.
