ZIMBABWE’S annual ― and highly popular ― interbank games are teeing off at the Royal Harare Golf Club on Friday, with the broader multi-disciplinary sporting event continuing at the University of Zimbabwe next week.
The tournaments are expected to bring together executives, professionals from Zimbabwe’s financial services sector and other stakeholders for days of networking, and friendly competition.
“The programme is designed to promote teamwork, wellness and collaboration within the banking sector while encouraging healthy competition among institutions,” said one of the event organisers at the Institute of Bankers Zimbabwe (IOBZ), adding this year’s theme was “One Industry. One Spirit. One Victory”.
“The games will feature… a wide range of sports, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, athletics, tug of war, chess, table tennis, pool, squash, lawn tennis, netball and darts,” they said.
Among the participating institutions are BancABC, CBZ Bank, CABS, First Capital Bank, Ecobank, NMB Bank, FBC Holdings, AFC Commercial Bank, Stanbic, POSB, ZB Bank, the National Building Society and TN CyberTech Bank. IOBZ, the country’s professional body for banking practitioners, plays a central role in promoting professionalism, ethics and continuous development within the banking industry.
