Nicki Minaj stole and broke many hearts on the first night of her Pinkprint Tour.

Nicki Minaj stole and broke many hearts on the first night of her Pinkprint Tour which kicked off in Johannesburg on Thursday.

When the show ended just after 10.30pm at the TicketPro Dome‚ some 20 fans waited patiently to meet the rapper. What was meant to be a moment for true “Barbz” ended in disappointment when Minaj said she wouldn’t be doing meet and greets.

Speaking to the group‚ a visibly upset Minaj apologised for keeping fans waiting.

“I’m very sorry for keeping you all waiting‚ but I want you to know that I never approved any meet and greet. I don’t do meet and greets after a show‚ I was literally about to leave. These people lied to you‚ please get your money back‚” she said.

As they had paid almost R3000 to meet the hip hop sensation‚ Minaj agreed to take group pictures with fans.

She added that she would make sure that fans got their money back.

Among the group were pupils‚ parents and couples‚ some donning Minaj’s signature luminous pink hair.

Despite waiting for almost two hours‚ fans seemed appeased to have a group moment with the American rapper.

The sold-out first night of the Pinkprint SA tour was a success for others as Minaj performed some of her greatest hits like Anaconda‚ Pills & Potions‚ Super Bass and various medleys before ending the show with Starships.

Minaj will be performing at the TicketPro Dome again on Friday before heading off to Durban for her show on Sunday and Cape Town on Tuesday.

Joburg stuns Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj fans came out in full force to her first South African performance at the TicketPro Dome last night.

The venue was filled to the rafters with her Barbz . Pink wigs and tutu skirts were the chosen attire for the evening, Nicki is a firm favourite of the pre-teens crowd too, most of them came in full costume.

SowetanLIVE spotted comedienne Celeste Ntuli looking pretty cosy with a tall dark handsome man, we salute your tastes! Hopefully you’ll come into our offices and we’ll have a chat soon!

We also spied Hulisani Ravele sans Sipho ‘Psyfo’ Ngwenya looking absolutely adorable in shorts and a big braid/thick cornrows.

Cassper Nyovest opened for Nicki Minaj and had teeny bopper in the place in a frenzy! He started off his set with his song Malome but was let down by his sound when it suddenly cut off during his performance of ‘ Lempietse’. Being the performer he is, he reassured the crowd that he would get it fixed and it was within minutes and he went back to singing his heart out.

He had a few surprise’ drop ins’ from Ricky Rick and Nadia Nakai who performed her song Money Back. Nakai has recently joined Family Tree. Cassper finished off his performance with an epic dance off between himself and his dancers .

Then it was time for the Queen of Rap herself

Nicki came onstage in a sheer beige , tassled body suit that screamed sexy. She started singing Romans Revenge with her initials framed in flames on the screen behind her and the crowed went in to a frenzy. From the moment she started singing until she stopped the crowd sang every single word to every single song.

She remarked at this by saying “Yo I didn’t know Joburg would be so turnt up.”’

After a medley of her songs such as Feeling Myself, Moment for Life, Only, Did it On Them and Super Bass Nicki just couldn’t believe that South Africans knew every word to her every song.

“Are you kidding me right now, Johannesburg?” She said.

“Yall have been with me a long time, let’s see if you know this one” she continued as she went into her song Right Through Me.

For most f the night she didn’t have to do a lot but start a song and the crowd would go right on and sing.

She rewarded the crowd with Make Me Proud singing Drakes verse Im so, im so proud of you to them.

South Africa,….I love you so much she stated at one point, you have been with me right from start she stated after singing Your Love.

Nicki Minaj expressed her appreciation at the love and voiced that South Africa was fast become her favourite place. She ended the night barefoot and singing her hit Starships. After the song was done she went off stage to get a pair of slippers and came back with a camera and filmed the crowd whilst her song The Night Is Still Young played in the background and one of her dancers came and wrapped her in the South African flag.

It is clear that South Africa made it’s impact on Nicki. sowetanlive.co.za
