ZIMBABWE striker Cuthbert Malajila has expressed confidence in his team to overcome the threat of Senegal in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations clash.

The Warriors will take on the Lions of Teranga in their second Group B clash in Gabon this evening, with kick-off scheduled for 21h00.

Malajila, who started in their 2-2 opeing draw against Algeria, says they are ready to face Africa’s top-ranked side and tournament favourites, and hopes to live up to their “golden generation” tags for their fans back home.

“The feeling is good and we are very prepared,” said the Bidvest Wits frontman during the pre-match press conference.

“We have the confidence and belief, and we are looking forward to the game against Senegal.

“The populace back home are behind us and they know what we are capable of doing. They call us “the golden generation” and we hope to make them proud.”

Meanwhile, coach Kalisto Pasuwa promised that his troops would emmulate their showing against The Desert Warriors, and confidently believes they are “still” the favourites in their group.

“We have prepared well for Senegal, which is another big team. We have done our homework and will pick up from where we left off against Algeria,” he said.

“Against Senegal, we have to be brave, aggressive and play the kind of football we are used to. We need to keep possession to get into their defence.

“We will bring another dimension and being one of the best teams on the content, it will be tough. Like I said, we are still the favourites in the group.”

Pasuwa also confirmed that striker Knowledge Musona will miss tonight’s encounter due to his hamstring injury, but hopes he will recover in time for their last group match on Monday. Kickoff.com
