Dereck Chisora to challenge Kabayel for European Title
CONTROVERSIAL Heavyweight star Dereck Chisora is aiming to become a two-time European champion when he challenges Agit Kabayel for the European belt in a match set for the first week of November.
The Zimbabwean-born boxer, will challenge German Kabayel in Monaco for the European title which he held from September 2013 to November 2014, as Tyson Fury eventually ended his reign after beating him for the belt.
The 33 year-old will be hoping to use his experience to regain the title with his 25-year old opponent defending his title for the first time since winning it in February this year.
Chisora’s bout will be an undercarder of the WBA World Heavyweight title fight between Dmitry Bivol and Trent Broadhurst and the highly anticipated rematch between Jamie McDonnell and Liborio Solis for McDonnell’s WBA world bantamweight title in a blockbuster boxing night in Monaco.
Speaking ahead of the match, the promoter of the event Eddie Hearn, said he was excited to be organizing such high profile matches.
“We are delighted to be back in Monaco for an incredible evening of World Championship Boxing live on Sky Sports in the UK and HBO across America. I’m excited to watch Dmitry Bivol, one of the most exciting young fighters in World boxing and of course to see the World title rematch of Jamie McDonnell vs. Liborio Solis after their last close encounter,” said Hearn.
“Former World champ Scott Quigg has one of the toughest tests in his career so far against the highly ranked Yefimovich and Heavyweight Dereck Chisora is in an all-out war with current European Champion Agit Kabayel. This is a special event in a special place and we can’t wait to take the Sky Sports and HBO cameras to Monaco on November.” – sportbrief.co.zw
