Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg takes parental leave to focus on his family
Mark Zuckerberg is taking parental leave for this month, he has revealed on social media.
The Facebook founder and his wife Dr Priscilla Chan announced the birth of their second daughter, August, born in the same month, earlier this year.
Facebook offers four months of paid parental leave for both mothers and fathers.
In keeping with the company’s parental policy, Mr Zuckerberg said at the time he would be taking two months of paternity leave in two parts.
He took a month off immediately to spend time with “Priscilla and the girls”.
And in a further Facebook post and on Instagram over the weekend, the billionaire wrote: “I’m going on parental leave for December to be with August and Max, so you’ll hear from me a little less.
“We have a couple more Facebook and philanthropy announcements this year and then I’ll see you all in 2018!”
When he took his first leave, he wrote that he was “pretty sure the office will still be standing when I get back”.
At the time of the birth of their first daughter, the couple announced plans to give away 99% of Mr Zuckerberg’s $45bn fortune – which if carried through would leave the family with an austere $450m.
The pair said they wanted Max “to grow up in a world better than ours today”. –news.sky.com
