Ronaldinho announces retirement from football

World footballing icon Ronaldinho has retired from the game, his brother and agent Roberto Assis has confirmed.

The 37-year-old has enjoyed a glittering career which has included stints with European giants Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and AC Milan, while he most recently returned to Brazil and was on the books of Fluminense this season.

Ronaldinho also counts the 2002 FIFA World Cup title amongst his achievements, while at club level he won the La Liga and Champions League crowns with Barca and the Serie A trophy with Milan.

The 2005 Ballon d’Or recipient has since decided to hang up his boots, with Assis saying: “He [Ronaldinho] has stopped, it is ended.

“Let’s do something pretty big and nice after the Russia World Cup, probably in August. We will do various events in Brazil, Europe and Asia and, of course, we are arranging something with the Brazilian team as well.” – kickoff.com
