ZIMBABWE’S second largest mobile telecommunications company, NetOne, has revealed that it will soon unveil new football sponsorship deals, in a significant show of commitment to “take football to world class standards”.

NetOne, is currently bankrolling the country’s three biggest football teams-Dynamos, Highlanders and Caps United. The three teams in the, early this year, received $350 000 each for their operations and other related expenses for the current season.

Netone’s chief executive officer, Lazarus Muchenje told The Financial Gazette that his company would soon unveil more exciting football sponsorship deals as this will power the company’s brand strategy.

“Look, football sponsorship gives NetOne the opportunity to give back to society,” Muchenje told The Financial Gazette this week.

“For us going forward we going to partner with big brands in football because we believe there is a huge heritage, there is huge following. We will be unveiling a new view on sponsorship soon. Certainly, there will be a view to take football to world class standards,” he said.

Muchenje, who began his reign as NetOne boss at the beginning of last month, however, remained tight-lipped when asked about impending sponsorship deals.

“It’s premature to tell you at this stage to provide further commentary about the exciting view on football sponsorship. But, we shall make the market know anytime soon,” Muchenje said. –
