Bakayoko’s ability questioned by AC Milan

Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko’s ability questioned by AC Milan head coach Gennaro Gattuso

Chelsea flop Tiemoue Bakayoko could be forced into a humiliating early return from AC Milan after the blunt assessment of his ability made by Gennaro Gatusso.

Bakayoko made 43 appearances for Chelsea last season and scored three goals after joining the club from AS Monaco in a high-profile £40m deal.

However, his displays were often scrutinised in English media and by the Blues fans on social media. And the arrival of Maurizio Sarri spelt the end of his tumultuous stay at Stamford Bridge.

Milan subsequently snapped the France international midfielder up on a season-long loan for a fee of €5 million with an option to make the move permanent for €35 million.

But in his 88 minutes of Serie A football thus far, his coach Gatusso has made a startling admission of the player who was an integral part of Monaco’s Ligue 1 title success and run to the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

“Bakayoko has to learn how to get the ball,” he told reporters after enquiries were made over his absence in the first XI.

“We must work correctly. It will not be easy. One week is not enough to remove the defects of a player.

“I would have preferred to be managing older, more experienced club players.”

The 24-year-old has earned two starts in the UEFA Europa League and five substitutes appearances in the league this season, yielding no goals or assists. – kickoff.com
