WordCamp Harare Will Also Have A Kids Workshop And Best Of All It’s Free
As we edge closer and closer to WordCamp Harare (23rd & 24th this month) it might be a good idea to sign up your kids for the junior workshop WordCamp will also be hosting. After all, train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Why should your kid attend WordCamp?
Well, the WordCamp guys put it much better than I can:
The WordCamp Juniors Workshop, sometimes called KidsCamp aims to give children a jump start in expressing their passion in the form of a blog. By doing so we expand current STEM initiatives to STREAM. The workshop also familiarizes children with WordPress interface preparing them to become future power users or developers.
What are the requirements to attend the kid workshop?
Your child needs to be between the ages of 9 and 15 and they need to have some basic computer literacy. Take note of basic. He/she doesn’t need to be a Whizkid who knows the A-Z of computing in order to be a part of this. From WordCamp Harare’s blog post, the child needs to have something they want to express; be it code or poetry or something else.
There’s also no need for the kids to bring any laptop/PC with them as those will be provided at the venue (Hellenic Academy).
Register
The event is free to attend for children and you can sign up here if you want your kids to attend.
