Police ‘told to shoot 50 Cent on sight’

The rapper says he is taking “this threat very seriously” and consulting with his lawyers over the alleged remark.

Police in New York are investigating claims that officers were ordered to shoot the rapper 50 Cent “on sight”.

Deputy Inspector Emanuel Gonzalez, who commands the 72nd precinct in Brooklyn, allegedly made the comment during a roll call last June.

In response, 50 Cent said Mr Gonzalez was a “dirty cop abusing his power”, and a “gangsta with a badge”.

“Now I’m looking at the cops different,” he wrote on Twitter, adding: “The sad part is this man still has a badge and a gun.

“I take this threat very seriously and I’m consulting with my legal counsel regarding my options moving forward.”

The NYPD told Sky News “the matter is under internal review”.
