James Brown murder claims could be investigated
A prosecutor in Atlanta is deciding whether to open a formal investigation into claims James Brown was murdered.
A woman is said to have approached the district attorney saying she has evidence the singer’s death was caused by another person.
He had been taken into hospital with pneumonia just two days prior to his death.
A woman named Jacque Hollander contacted Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard’s office to request a meeting, claiming Brown’s death was caused by another person, according to the prosecutor’s spokesman Chris Hopper.
Mr Howard met Ms Hollander on Wednesday and she gave him a collection of materials she said related to Brown’s death.
The prosecutor is now assessing the information and deciding whether to open an investigation, his spokesman said.
In 2014, documents from Brown’s estate were made public following a court dispute over the division of the singer’s wealth after his death.
Brown, who began his career as a gospel singer in Georgia, has been credited as the most sampled artist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. – skynews.com
