Sound of Inspiration back on stage

The project, which brings together some of the city’s top gospel music soloists and artists, is an exciting initiative that is fast becoming a widely anticipated feature on the city’s arts calendar.
The presentation features talented and award winning singers such as singing competition winner Eric Moyo, the hugely talented Thabo Mlotshwa, the inspirational keyboardist extraordinaire Velaphi Gumbo and songwriter, entrepreneur, executive producer  and creator of The Sound of Inspiration initiative Asaph, who is also an internationally recognised songwriter and past member of the International Songwriter’s Guild. Special guest artists include big voiced Kira and pianist Mthabisi Ndlovu.
The soloists, each with a  unique gift, and committed to uplifting gospel truth using their musical talents, take to the stage backed by a talented and enthusiastic young band and voices.
“The project is built on the idea that gospel music can be more inspiring, more collaborative, more reflective and spiritually fulfilling. Again, we will present a family friendly show that is replete with meaning and inspiration. The overarching goal is to activate and foster faith in, and reverence for, God in view of our Lord Jesus Christ’s soon return,” said Asaph, the show’s Executive Producer.
Devoid of the gimmickry that tends to mar such events, The Sound of Inspiration has garnered the favourable attention of the arts loving community and music followers at large eagerly anticipate the return to stage of spirit -filled performances of inspirational songs. When the music loving public in Bulawayo first witnessed the inaugural concert in March, those that attended the show experienced the birth of a musical dream that set the tone for all future gospel concerts in terms of maturity, family orientation and the ministry centred approach of the singers.
“A missing feature at Intwasa in the past six years has been the gospel or spiritual element and yet this music has been touted as food for the soul because of its life affirming and enriching quality. What better soul food than music deeply rooted in matters of the spirit? For the first time, the 7th edition of the festival will host gospel performances by local artistes. At last the festival can now claim to be a provider of soul food with its planned gospel program,” said Raisedon Baya, Intwasa Arts Festival Director.
