Fatigue, ill-health taking its toll
EDITOR — In the past few weeks I have been stuck by how the local media reported on the ‘health issues’ of some of our leaders. Firstly, it was President Robert Mugabe on his frequent trips to Singapore for what the State media call ‘eye check-ups’ at world class medical facilities.
Then, it was ex-premier Morgan Tsvangirai who is suffering from an undisclosed ‘ailment’ or is it stress related disorders due to his hard work preparing for 2018 elections. And, we have Augustine Chihuri, the Police commissioner general, collapsing at a pass-out parade at Morris Depot. He explained the mishap with a bizarre shoe mix up explanation. While the media focusing on the health of these individuals is not fair, they do not help matters themselves by how they handle the situations (secrecy and denial) making the lot of us curious. Perhaps it is time that they admit that they are no longer fit for office and let others take charge.
