Ex-Studio 263 actor, Mutare producer join forces
FORMER Studio 263 actor Denzel Burutsa, better known as Jabu, has joined forces with a Mutare based videographer, Simba Gee, on a potentially explosive music video recorded by an Australian based artist. The music video called Rudo Harudyiwi, is expected to cause a frenzy in the local music scene considering the commendable expertise commanded by the two visual producers.
After the demise of Studio 263, Burutsa spent two years studying at Afda Film School in Johannesburg, South Africa before venturing into film production. The actor-cum-producer embarked on his debut film production called The Courier in February while Simba Gee and has produced videos for an array of prominent local artists.
He has worked with rappers Stunner, Trey Yung, dancehall chanter Shinsoman, veteran urban groover Sani Makhalima, among others.
Simba Gee released his well-received debut DVD album titled 14 Carat before producing commercials for supermarkets. Simba Gee told the Financial Gazette that the music video also features award-winning female rapper Trae Yung of the Tafinalizer fame.
He said the video, which was shot recently is expected to be out in two weeks. “I’m working on an explosive music video with Denzel Burutsa. We are jointly shooting and directing the video recorded by an Australian based Zimbabwean artists called Rudo Harudyiwi. “I also make a cameo appearance on the video, which also features Trae Yung. The video will be out in the next two weeks,” said Simba Gee who added that he enjoyed working behind the set with Burutsa.
The single sarcastically exposes how relationships have outlived the traditional love component in favour of material gains. Meanwhile, Simba Gee under his production house has partnered TMG record label to produce video for the latter. The partnership has seen Simba Gee producing a hilarious video called Tsvimbo Yamadzibaba, which dramatises the violent clashes that erupted when anti-riot police accompanied the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe (ACCZ) to shut down Johanne Masowe weChishanu apostolic sect in Budiriro 2.
Police details, journalists and ACCZ officials were brutally attacked by the militant religious group during the incident that latter spilled into the country courts of law. The video has been receiving rave reviews on the global video platform – YouTube and has gone viral on social networks such as Whatsapp. The video comes off from a single recorded by Tiva Styles at TMG stable, which also produces for Trae Young. -Kenneth Matimaire
