Kelly Rowland Says She’s “Recorded 45 Songs” For New Album
IN a new interview with ABC Radio, Grammy Award-winning superstar Kelly Rowland announced a new album, the follow-up to 2013’s Talk A Good Game.
“I’ve recorded 45 songs to be completely honest, the challenge for me right now is solidifying exactly what sound that is, I have three different sounds on the table,” she reveals. “So I just want to know what that is and I feel like I have two albums…that’s not cool, I just need one.”
Rowland says her fifth solo album will stay close to her R&B roots. “It’s definitely more R&B and to the core of even the dance music, it’s still soul and that’s the core of who I am, is my soul, and I always want that to come across,” she said.
One third of trio Destiny’s Child (one of the best-selling girl groups of all time), the R&B singer has been honored with five Grammy Awards, 16 Billboard Music Awards, 15 Soul Train Awards, four American Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, one BRIT Award, one BET Award, one NAACP Image Award, a star on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame” and more. Moving over 20 million albums worldwide, she reached multi-platinum superstar status in less than a decade.
Although she has a long list of accomplishments under her belt, Rowland is not resting on her laurels. According to ABC Radio, she also promises to release new music next month. “I’m actually gearing up for a video right now, actually in rehearsals for a video right now I’m excited about.” She coyly added it will entail “much movement.”
Rowland also talked about her new reality TV series, Chasing Destiny, which premieres April 5 at 10pm ET on BET.
