Barcelona coaches come to Zimbabwe

GERARDO Matino, the manager of European football giants, FC Barcelona and his backroom staff, will be arriving in Zimbabwe in July to hold coaching clinics for Castle Lager Premier League coaches, the Financial Gazette Sports can report. The programme is being facilitated by Delta Beverages, the official sponsors of the local Premiership through their brand — Castle Lager.

SABMiller, Delta’s parent company, signed a three-year partnership in July last year with the Spanish football giants which made Castle Lager the official beer sponsor for the team in Africa. Delta Beverages’ marketing manager, Patricia Murambinda confirmed the development.
“We are having Barcelona coaches coming into the country on July 27, 2014 to conduct a coaching clinic for all 16 premiership coaches and their backroom staff. The programme will be held over two to three days,” said Murambinda on the sidelines of the Castle Tankard horse race at the Borrowdale Race Course.

The Catalan giants could be Spanish champions this weekend should they beat Atletico Madrid in a title decider at the Nou Camp on Sunday as they would have a better head-to-head  record after the title rivals drew 0-0 at the Calderón in Madrid in January.A draw would be enough for Atlético to secure their first domestic league title since 1996.     –Staff Reporter              newsdesk@fingaz.co.zw
