Beyonce to compete against sister Solange
BEYONCE has been nominated for seven BET Awards and will compete with her sister Solange for some of the top prizes.
The Formation singer and her younger sister are both nominated for video of the year and best female R&B/pop artist.
Solange Knowles is nominated with her 2016 album A Seat At The Table, which made number one in the United States billboard.
Queen Bey, who won video of the year with Formation last year, is nominated for the top prize again with Sorry.
She will go against Solange’s Cranes In the Sky, Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic, Migos’ Bad and Boujee and Big Sean’s Bounce Back.
Bruno Mars follows Beyonce with five nominations, while Solange has only four.
Mars is also nominated for best male R&B/pop artist, album of the year, the viewer’s choice award and video director of the year.
Chance the Rapper will face Lamar, Drake, J Cole, Future and Big Sean for best male hip-hop artist, while Nicki Minaj will compete with rival Remy Ma for best female hip-hop artist.
Beyonce and Solange will also go head-to-head for best female R&B/pop artist, along with Rihanna, Mary J Blige and Kehlani.
The BET (Black Entertainment Television) awards were created in 2001, to celebrate African American music in the US.
The winners in the 19 categories will be selected by BET’s Voting Academy, comprised of entertainment professionals and fans, and the ceremony will take place on 25 June in Los Angeles. -news.sky.com
