Brad Pitt signed up for celebrity home improvement show
In unlikely celebrity news of the week, Brad Pitt is set to appear in a home improvement TV show.
Just a month after winning his first Oscar, the Hollywood star is now turning his attentions to DIY (or rather, do-it-with-the-help-of-a-specialist-TV-team).
Sadly, we won’t get to see Pittinviting Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS crew for a spot of refurbishment on his own home, but rather helping someone else out with a much-needed renovation.
Celebrity IOU will see the 56-year-old actor join forces with identical twin stars Drew and Jonathan Scott, who front Property Brothers in the US and Canada.
The actor will fund a home renovation to a mystery person who has had a major impact on his life.
“It’s amazing to see someone who is extremely successful be grounded enough to always remember the people who helped them get there,” said Jonathan.
Famous faces including Melissa McCarthy, Viola Davis, Rebel Wilson and Michael Buble are also set to appear on the HGTV programme.
Projects will include converting a detached garage into a guest retreat, overhauling a back garden, and renovating an outdated 1970s apartment.
HGTV president Jane Latman said: “The wonderful thing about Celebrity IOU is that it is about personal acts of kindness and thanks. We all want to find ways to help the people who are always there for us when we need them.”
Pitt won his first Oscar, for best supporting actor, earlier this year for his role as a stuntman in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood. He also picked up the same prize at the BAFTAs and Golden Globes.
Celebrity IOU will air on Mondays from 4 May on home improvement and gardening channel HGTV in the US and Canada. – bbc.com
