Britain’s biggest family expecting baby number 21
BRITAIN’S biggest family are expecting baby number 21 just months after saying their 20th child would be their last.
Sue and Noel Radford revealed the news on their YouTube channel and an ultrasound of the unborn baby girl on Instagram. The Mirror reports that when the couple welcomed their 8lb 6oz son Archie in September last year, they swore he would be their last and were happy to finish on a “nice even number”.
But eight months on the family is set to get even bigger with a daughter who will be almost 30 years younger than her oldest sibling. Sue, 43, and Noel, 47, who also have three grandchildren, wrote to their 47,000 followers on Instagram: “We can’t wait to welcome you into the family precious little one.”
In their YouTube video, Sue tells the camera as she’s in the car with some of her children: “We’re just on the way home from having a very special, lovely appointment.
“And I’m just wondering if anybody can guess where we’ve been. I bet you can.” The clip then cuts to Sue at home as she shows off her baby bump.
She tells the camera: “I hope you enjoy our gender reveal and, yes, I am pregnant.”
Sue and Noel, from Morecambe, Lancashire, then fire pink confetti into the air in the family’s back garden to reveal they’re expecting a girl. Noel says later: “I can’t believe it, a girl. I think we’re in shock. We were not expecting it.”
The parents, whose family featured in the reality programme ’20 Kids And Counting’, say they do not claim any extra state benefits aside from the regular child benefit. Sue and Noel have been having children for the better part of three decades.
They are already parents to Chris, 29, Sophie, 24, Chloe, 22, Jack, 21, Daniel, 19, Luke, 17, Millie, 16, Katie, 15, James, 14, Ellie, 13, Aimee, 12, Josh, 10, Max, nine, Tillie, eight, Oscar, six, Casper, five, Hallie, two, Phoebe, 22 months, and Archie, eight months.
Their son Alfie was stillborn in 2014.
After Archie was born, the couple said it was “strange” knowing he would be their last. When the entire family appeared on ITV’ s This Morning in January, Sue said: “Archie is definitely going to be the last Radford baby.”
But eldest daughter Sophie, who has three kids herself, shook her head and claimed she “can’t see her mum stopping”. Daughter Aimee, 11, admitted she felt “stressed” looking after her younger siblings.
Presenter Eamonn Holmes labelled dad Noel a “randy goat” as the stars of the Channel 4 documentary ’20 Kids and Counting’ claimed they were not going to have any more children.
The childhood sweethearts’ first child, Chris, was born when Sue was aged just 14.
Sue and Noel were both given up for adoption after they were born, and they decided to keep Chris and raise him as teenage parents.
They got married and had their second child, Sophie, when Sue was 17.
Sue and Noel face a monumental task each day just to feed, clothe and ferry about their huge brood.
The couple spend an estimated £30,000 a year of their own money bringing up their children – including birthdays with a budget of £100 per child and Christmas at £100 to £250 per child, it was previously reported.
In addition, they also have a holiday abroad each year. – dailymail.co.uk
