Chile attacker Alexis Sanchez has been named the Copa America Centenario’s best player after helping his country win the tournament for the second successive year.

Chile edged Argentina 4-2 on penalties in the final on Sunday following a goalless 120 minutes of football in New Jersey, a result which prompted the retirement of Lionel Messi.

Sanchez scored three goals and provided four assists in the competition.

The Arsenal man’s compatriots Claudio Bravo and Eduardo Vargas won the goalkeeper and top scorer awards at the event, with the latter finding the net six times. Kickoff.com
