Compulink calls for increased ICT representation boards
ICT firm, Compulink Holdings, is advocating for increased representation of ICT professionals on company boards.
The company believes this move will enhance competitive ness and prepare companies to handle the complexities of emerging technologies, including new cyber threats. Managing director Simon Nyamuda made these remarks in anticipation of the upcoming Evolve ICT Summit 2024.
The summit is scheduled to take place at the Harare International Conference Centre in the capital on Thursday and Friday, May 2-3, 2024. “Technology has transitioned from being a mere peripheral ‘support service’ in organisations to being a central and core enabler for delivering organisational capabilities in an increasingly digitalised world,” Nyamuda said.
He added, “For an organisation to survive, compete, and excel today, it must embrace technology as a core competence to help create shareholder value. That’s why we believe that ICT representation is now essential at the highest and most strategic levels in organisations, and as part of the organisation’s governance structure at board level.”
Compulink’s call comes ahead of the Evolve ICT Summit 2024, which will convene ICT industry leaders and experts. The summit will provide a platform for discussing and thoroughly examining the opportunities and challenges that advancing technology and the digital revolution present.
The summit, to be officially opened by the ICT minister Tatenda Mavetera, will run under the theme “Lead with Vision”.
It will feature notable speakers, including Econet Wireless Zimbabwe’s group chief executive Douglas Mboweni and Compulink founder Edward Nyamuda.
The summit comes at a critical time when organisations worldwide are grappling with the exciting opportunities and very real challenges presented by the evolution of technology, which, in some instances, is catching some organisations by surprise.
Nyamuda, the event coordinator, urged business owners, executives, entrepreneurs, startup founders, and those interested in starting or running businesses successfully, to seize the opportunity presented by the Summit and make time to attend.
He said, “To thrive in the com plex and evolving business environment we operate in, companies must embrace technology, and understand how to use it to drive innovation, create efficiencies and cost-savings, mitigate cyber threats, and use it to meet business goals.”
