Craig David and Ne-Yo announced for BS3 Ashton Gate concert
Craig David and Ne-Yo are among the first acts announced for a multi-artist stadium gig at Ashton Gate in Bristol.
Ten acts will perform across two stages for Ashton Gate Presents BS3, usually home to Bristol City FC.
DJ Spoony will present a classical garage set featuring a 26-piece orchestra as well as performances from So Solid Crew and Shola Ama.
The gig will be held at Ashton Gate, which can host up to 27,000 people, on 22 June.
Ashton Gate’s head of venue and events, Jenny Hutchinson, told the BBC the event’s host act will be announced on Thursday ahead of the pre-sale for tickets.
Speaking exclusively to Joe Sims on BBC Radio Bristol, she said the day event will have “something for everybody” and organisers were going for a hip-hop and R&B theme.
British singer and songwriter Craig David is best known for his tracks 7 Days and Walking Away.
He used to have a show on BBC Radio 2 and recently featured in a BBC iPlayer documentary about imposter syndrome, bullying and fame.
Ne-Yo, an American R&B singer known for songs including So Sick and Closer, has won three Grammy Awards and recently won the ITV show The Masked Singer. He has written songs for huge acts including Beyoncé and Rihanna.
DJ Spoony has performed in Ibiza and Ayia Napa for a decade and hosts a house and garage show every Friday on BBC Radio 2.
Ms Hutchinson said the remaining acts would be revealed later this year ahead of the event.
The festival will be held across two stages within the ground, a main one by the Atyeo Stand and a smaller stage next to it.
Ashton Gate Stadium has been host to big name acts in the past such as Elton John, Arctic Monkeys and The Killers.
The host act will be announced at 10:00 GMT on Thursday, an hour before the pre-sale starts.
General sale for tickets, priced from £40 plus booking fee, will open at the same time on Friday. – bbc.com
