David Beckham opens up about ‘difficult’ marriage to Victoria
David Beckham has opened up about his difficult marriage to wife Victoria
The football legend has revealed they had both ‘made mistakes’ and that they’d been through ‘tough times’.
The couple have bashed divorce rumours that sent social media into meltdown on Friday, the Mirror reports .
The Beckhams put on a brave face when they appeared at Men’s Fashion Week at the weekend calling claims of a split ‘laughable’ and ’embarrassing’.
Not afraid to admit past mistakes, the A-list power couple have been working on their 19-year marriage.
After revealing they had recently renewed their vows, David told Radio 4: “Of course you make mistakes over the years.
years.
“We all know marriage is difficult at times, and it’s about working through it. Whenever we’ve come through tough times … we talk.”
But while the power couple’s marriage is obviously one of the strongest on the block, like all unions, both have their differences…
Social media stance
Proud mum Victoria loves sharing shots of David and their kids Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 13 and six-year-old Harper.
However, David takes a much tougher stance, having previously admitted ‘controlling’ his kids’ social media use.
Asked if any of his kids had their own pages in 2015, he told the Telegraph, “No. Well my 13 year-old has a private one because he’s allowed to. But, apart from that, no. I think you have to control what your children do to a certain extent.”
Of course, he’s chilled out in recent years, regularly bantering with eldest son Brooklyn on Instagram.
Miami moves
Beckham moved to Miami earlier this year to launch a new Major League soccer team, and confirmed he would be leaving his wife and kids behind.
“I want to thank my family. Brooklyn and my wife Victoria, who is at home with the other kids,” he said at a press conference in Miami.
“They’ve been through the good times and the bad times and I owe them everything.”
“Whenever they [my family] can, they’ll be coming over.”
However, with the kids and school in London, Victoria is set to celebrate her brand’s 10th anniversary at London Fashion Week this September.
“I want to celebrate my ten year anniversary at home,” she told the Guardian of her plans.
And after returning to the UK from LA in 2013, she shared her love for her home country.
“You know, I’m so happy to be back in London, we all are,” she told the Daily Mail.
“The kids go to fantastic schools, they have lots of friends and our family live in London, we’re very proud to be British.”
Travel
While Becks has been to China, Miami and Tokyo without his wife in the last 100 days alone, Victoria has previously admitted she’s not one for travel.
“I don’t travel much because I don’t want to be away from the children and I need to be in the studio,” she told Elle magazine .
Partying
David is known for his love of a good knees up, partying at Glastonbury and reportedly doing shots at the Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire the night before the royal wedding, but Victoria can’t think of anything worse.
“I don’t tend to go to parties,” she told Elle magazine.
“I would never be in a nightclub, ever – not any more. I like to talk with people that interest me, and you can’t really do that in a club.”
Tattoos
While David keeps topping up his tatt collection – most recently having a solar system etched onto his skull – Victoria seems to be phasing hers out.
