Diaspora homecoming business summit on the cards

A UK-based, Zimbabwean-owned firm is set to host a high-level homecoming business summit in Harare next month, which is set to bring together diasporans and local businesspeople to share notes on business opportunities within the country.

The red-carpet event to be held on December 20 at Golden Conifer Conference Centre under the theme: Exploring Business Opportunities in Zimbabwe, is being organised by the Zimbabweans in Diaspora Organisation (ZIDO).

ZIDO chief executive Blessed Kapesa

“The diaspora homecoming business summit offers a unique chance for diasporans returning home for the holidays to connect, share their experiences abroad, and discuss ways to grow their business portfolios,” ZIDO chief executive Blessed Kapesa said.
“This event goes beyond a simple celebration; it serves as a vital platform for exploring investment opportunities and acknowledging the significant contributions the diaspora makes to Zimbabwe’s economy.”
Business leaders, government officials, and industry experts are expected to attend the summit to offer insights on Zimbabwe’s evolving business landscape and the various opportunities available across different industries.
“The summit is carefully crafted to promote meaningful networking among professionals, business leaders, and investors.
“Attendees will receive firsthand insights into investment opportunities from key authorities, with keynote speakers offering in-depth analyses of the evolving business landscape,” Kapesa added.
The summit, which is now an annual event, promises a lively mix of business discussions, networking, and entertainment, creating an unforgettable experience.
Among activities for the night is an awards ceremony, which will see diasporans who have excelled in different business disciplines that have contributed to the country’s economic growth, getting honoured.
For many diasporans, the event offers more than a chance to reconnect with friends and family; it serves as an essential link to their homeland and an opportunity to engage in Zimbabwe’s evolving story.
With a strong emphasis on collaboration and investment, the summit aims to bridge borders and create investment opportunities for all Zimbabweans.
