Ethical Leaf Tobacco donates Covid-19 Healthcare Supplies
ETHICAL Leaf Tobacco (ELT), a wholly indigenous owned tobacco contracting company has embarked on a nationwide covid-19 health-care supplies donation initiative.
Starting at Dowa Clinic, Makoni West constituency in Manicaland, ELT will make its way to Mashonaland East, West and Mashonaland Central donating healthcare supplies to selected rural clinics.
As a responsible corporate citizen, ELT has joined hands with the government, other corporates and the health sector in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Having a lot of its work concentrated in rural communities, ELT has seen it fit to embark on a countrywide COVID-19 mitigation exercise in rural communities as a way of giving back to the communities they work in.
Speaking at the handover ceremony the Member of Parliament for Makoni West constituency, Jenfan Muswere, who is also the ICT minister showed gratitude to Ethical Leaf Tobacco for a noble initiative, which he hopes will prompt other tobacco contracting companies to follow.
Rural clinics and other health care centres in the periphery of the country are not readily recognised as compared to those in the city centres and towns. However, for Ethical Leaf Tobacco, people who use these clinics and health care centres such as Dowa Clinic, are their major stakeholders and it therefore comes naturally to give back to the communities they live in, in this way.
‘The pandemic has become a national crisis and we realise that supplies for healthcare workers are essential, therefore we are complimenting government efforts especially in rural areas hence this initiative’
Underscored Andrew Mupfawa, Ethical Leaf Tobacco General Manager.
This is a gesture to say thank you to the Makoni West constituency for supporting the work we do while we lift the community both socially and economically.
