Fabregas breaks Giggs’ Guinness World Record books

Cesc Fabregas breaks long-standing Premier League record to enter Guinness World Record books

Chelsea playmaker Cesc Fabregas has entered the Guinness World Record books after bettering a historic feat by Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs.

The 2010 World Cup winner is in the record books for the Fastest time to achieve 100 assists in the English top-flight in just 293 games. And the achievement was met in 74 matches less than Giggs who is second on the list with 367 games.

Fàbregas’ record-breaking assist came on 31 December 2016 when he set up Brazilian midfielder Willian’s second goal in Chelsea’s 4-2 win over Stoke City.

However, the record was only confirmed this week for the 2019 edition of the Guinness World Record books.

“I’m not the fastest, I’m not the strongest, I’m not the most flexible, I don’t jump high,” he said, as quoted by Guinness Book of Records.

“But to achieve this record in my career is one of the proudest things in my job because it is my job and I did it well.”

Overall, Fabregas has scored 122 goals and registered 201 assists in 643 games for the Blues, Arsenal and FC Barcelona respectively.  – kickoff.com
