Fight breaks out in South African parliament
A MASS brawl broke out in the South African parliament on Tuesday after members of an ultra-left group tried to prevent an address by President Jacob Zuma.
The Economic Freedom Fighters believe the president is not fit to address the house because of corruption allegations against him, and said they would disrupt proceedings again until he resigned.
Window panes in a parliament door were shattered during the chaos.
In April, President Zuma survived an impeachment vote in parliament after the constitutional court ruled he had ignored an order to repay state funds spent on his private home.
Later that month, the High Court overturned a decision dating back seven years, dropping 783 corruption charges against Zuma when he was still the country’s deputy president. -itv.com
