Fraud suspect arrested at court
A FRAUD suspect, James Landon, who duped Nyasa Air Charter in a botched US$1, 5 million partnership deal, has been arrested while hiding in a Honda Fit at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
Landon was arrested for allegedly sending threatening messages to a complainant in the matter pending before the court.
He allegedly duped Nyasa Air Charter after forging businessman Adam Woodington Wood’s signature in a botched aircraft service partnership deal.
Landon was last month gagged from speaking to the media after Wood through the State sought to have his bail revoked for sending threatening messages to him.
In the matter, the State accused him of providing prejudicial information to the media as well as sending threatening messages to Wood.
Wood also accused Landon of speaking malicious lies to the media on a case that is still before the court in a bid to influence the case outcome.
Landon’s lawyers Munyaradzi Midzi and Innocent Chingarande defended the allegations, arguing that their client sent the messages by mistake.
Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje however, dismissed the State’s application to revoke Landon’s bail but ordered him against approaching the media regarding the case which is still pending before the court.
