Donald Ganyaupfu ropes in Mono Mukundu
RISING jazz musician Donald Ganyaupfu has roped in the ‘Midas Touch’ of veteran producer Mono Mukundu in his latest project ‘Yambuka Rwizi’ which is a love song that celebrates marital bliss and encourages blessed marriage unions.
As has become his signature theme, Ganyaupfu sings on marriages and praises the journey from courtship to marriage.
“ It is everyone’s dream to leave their father and mother and be made one flesh with their true love. Just like crossing a river , it is never easy, effort is needed to overcome,” he said in an interview.
In the latest project he also features Dereck Mpofu also known as the ‘Green Ambassador’.
The two gelled so well with Mono’s guitar skills spicing up the collaboration.
Ganyaupfu’s first project was a dedication to his wife Tinotenda in celebration of their decade in marriage
The couple is blessed with two children.
The track was titled “Ndiwe Wandinoda” and it was well received by jazz enthusiasts compelling him to continue preaching on marriage matters through music.
“I want to use music as a way of counseling the young generation to value the institution of marriage. I am a counsellor and also witness a lot of weddings so somewhere along those lines, I got inspiration for writing this song,” said Ganyaupfu.
His music is a fusion of jazz and African instruments.
Ganyaupfu is a devout Christian and says music is a talent from God.
The latest project is already getting airplay on radio stations and the video is expected to be produced in the first quarter of the year
He is however yet to stage live shows as he has other work commitments outside of music.
