GRI told hold Financial Economic Economic Rejuvenation Indaba

Finance Minister, Mthuli Ncube

GLOBAL Renaissance Investment will on December 6 hold a Financial and Economic Rejuvenation Indaba which will bring together ministers, government officials, industry and business people.
The indaba will be held under the theme ‘Towards a financial and economic transformation to achieve the 2030 vision.
Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube is expected to be the guest of honour.
Panelists to present at the Indaba include First Mutual Holdings, CEO Douglas Hoto, Exim Bank India regional representative, Sanjay Lamba, Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries president Sifelani Jabangwe, businessman Nigel Chanakira, Oxlink Capital chief executive Brains Muchemwa and World Bank Country Director, Jane Karuku.
The Indaba is coming at a time Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube said the economy was likely to grow more than 5 percent in 2018, rather than the earlier estimate of 4.5 percent, but a widening budget deficit risks destabilising the financial sector and the whole economy.
Rebuilding the troubled economy is the biggest challenge to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who was re-elected in a disputed vote in July and is seeking to pivot away from some of the policies of his predecessor.
New Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube said the economy would grow faster than initially expected on the back of strong performances in agriculture and mining, the latter of which is the biggest contributor to Zimbabwe’s export earnings.
Ncube, however, said he was worried by the build-up in inflationary pressures.
The Indaba brings together Ministers, government officials, bankers, industrialist, investors and diplomas to share experiences and explore financial and economic opportunities to turn around the economy in line with government’s 2030 vision. Furthermore, the conference will provide financial models available to turn around the economy.
