Harare International Carnival gathers steam
THE highly anticipated Harare International Carnival is gathering steam as the event fast approaches, with over 23 countries having already confirmed participation.
Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) spokesperson, Sugar Chagonda told participants at a workshop in Harare that the Authority will partner DRC at the event that is set to attract thousands of revelers in the capital.
The highlight of the carnival will be on Saturday, September 9 where the battle of Limpopo is expected to set Harare ablaze.
Sponsor of the event, Big Time Strategic Group of South Africa, has facilitated a special appearance of top South African musical acts like Uhuru, Babes Wodumo and socialite, Zodwa Wabantu.
“They are also bringing top South African musician. They say this is the battle of the Limpopo. I can confirm that from South Africa we have Uhuru, Oskido, Durbanites, Zodwa Wabantu and Babes Wodumo,” said Chagonda.
Big Time Group will also erect a state of the art 3 000 seater VVIP tent at Robert Mugabe square where revelers will be entertained by top musicians and samba queens.
“We are happy with the way things are obtaining on the ground. Our sponsor remains Big Time Strategic Group of South Africa. They are bringing a state of the art stage-one of the biggest in Africa. They are bringing a VVIP tent which will be erected along Robert Mugabe square which will accommodate 3000 delegates,” added Chagonda.
He added that top local musicians are also billed to perform on the carnival with lanky musician, Jah Prayzah having already confirmed his participation.
“In terms of local artists, the lineup is still being finalized. But I can confirm that Jah Prayzah has already signed a contract, Andy Muridzo, Diamond Musica, and the Charambas,” said Chagonda.
“Most of our musicians have put Zimbabwe on the map that’s why we end the carnival with a concert. It gives our artists an opportunity to contribute to the carnival,” added Chagonda.
Events to look forward to at the carnival include the musical concert, samba queens, airforce paratroopers and the Zimdancehall night at Harare Gardens
