Harare to showcase talent

The show will be staged on Saturday, January 28 at 7pm, when a line-up of singers, dancers and other would-be entertainers will take to the spotlight and perhaps make a start on careers in the entertainment business. Three previous editions of the series have been held, won respectively by Ketan Nagar’s dance group, singer Kirby Chipembere and church choir Firm Faith.
“We are calling on any newcomers to the world of entertainment to come along to our try-outs and see if they can get a place in the line-up for Harare’s Got Talent 4,” said Sue Bolt, who chairs the Reps production committee. The try-outs will be held at Reps at 10am on Saturday January 21, and will be followed by the show on January 28.
“We are looking for all kinds of talent – singers, dancers, comedians, jugglers, illusionists … there is no limit to the type of performance skill,” said Ms Bolt.
Harare’s Got Talent provides a platform for publicity but does not provide remuneration – Reps being an amateur theatrical society. However, fun prizes are usually offered to top three winners and a year’s free membership of The Repertory Players is awarded to the overall winner.
“We hope that the show will give audiences in Harare a chance to see some great performance talent and we also encourage people who are scouting for entertainers to come along and watch – and thereafter make contact with the performers they have enjoyed or who have impressed them,” Ms Bolt said.
People who wish to attend the try-outs should be at the theatre by 10am this Saturday.
