Hey kids, Much Ado About Nothing at Reps
The production, which opened yesterday, runs until Saturday next week (October 15), with a mix of evening and afternoon performances to give all schools a chance to make block bookings at a date and time most suitable to them. A special block booking facility has been set up for schools, which will get back 25 percent of ticket sales from their block bookings for their fundraising activities.
The production is directed by veteran actor, director and teacher, John Dennison, who has assembled a strong cast for the play, set in 16th Century Italy and featuring a battle of the sexes. Cast members include Kevin Hanssen, Ashleigh-May Bawden, David Bvumbe and a number of other Reps regulars, as well as some new faces to the stage.
“The play is one of Shakespeare’s most popular and is a set book at O Level for many schools, which is why we chose to stage it just ahead of the examination period this year,” said Dennison.
“It is a challenging and thought-provoking play, but it is also a delightful comedy with some witty interplay between the two main couples.”
