Introducing new pop sensation Tina

The eight-track CD, which she describes as mainly pop with a touch of jazz, is inspired by life and the people around her.
Although influenced somewhat by the likes of Erika Badu and South Africa’s Lira, Introducing Tina brings out Tina’s own unique and beautiful voice, warm and passionate, with a wide vocal range and full of expression.
The CD opens with the lively Chii? which advises listeners not to stress “cause if you had to compare your problems with everyone else, yours would be better! So stand up and be happy!”
Ndakupihwa is a beautiful ballad which brings out the best of Tina’s warm and soulful voice. Dedicated to the father of her one-year-old, Anisha, the song is thanking God for a heaven-sent guy, when so many men these days all think about is just “having fun” with girls. True Man is a mellow reggae with mbira undertones, dedicated to her father.
The CD is co-produced with musician and producer, Mono Mukundu of Monolio Studios, who composed several of the tracks and features on various instruments along with keyboardist, Isheunopa Jere.
Emerging from Harare’s bustling satellite town, Chitungwiza, Tina entered the music industry at a tender age, working as a backing vocalist for Busi Ncube, and later with Thanda Richardson, Taku Mafika, Comrade Fatso, Isaac Chirwa and others.
Tina has shared the stage in various collaborations and line-ups including Mozambican saxophonist, Ivan Mazuze, and Zimbabwean mbira star, Chiwoniso Maraire, at the famous Harare International Festival of the Arts.
She toured Europe in 2010 with Taku Mafika and Gary Tight Muponda as part of the International Youth Orchestra, performing in more than five towns and cities in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland, and at the World Social Forum in Senegal early this year with Comrade Fatso and Chabvondoka.
Tina is currently enrolled at the Zimbabwe College of Music as a full-time student working towards the National Certificate in Music, with the help of the Zimbabwe Jesuit Mission.
Tina will be featured every Tuesday this July at the Book Café in Harare, a special performance slot dedicated to the promotion of women artistes.
