Kanye West ‘deletes Twitter and Instagram accounts’
US rapper Kanye West appears to have mysteriously deleted his Twitter and Instagram accounts with no explanation given.
The Twitter page for @kanyewest, which had more than 27 million followers, now brings up a message saying: “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!”
Meanwhile, on Instagram, @kanyewest now leads to a screen, with the words: “Sorry, this page isn’t available.”
His wife, reality TV star Kim Kardashian West, is still using her social media accounts but has not made any reference to his deactivation.
In one of her most recent tweets, she referred to her and her husband’s new children’s clothing range, writing: “Kanye hand drew our KIDS logo.”
It is not the first time he has purged his social media – in October 2012 he deleted all but one tweet, just leaving the message: “BE BACK SOON.”
The rapper also deleted his Twitter account before he released his Yeezus album in 2013.
He first joined Twitter in 2010 and Instagram in September last year.
A Twitter user took his deactivation this week to mean the star has a new album coming out soon.
West has had a stressful past few months, with his wife being tied up and robbed in a Paris hotel in October.
The following month, he spent a week in hospital after suffering from exhaustion and sleep deprivation.
He also cancelled the rest of his Saint Pablo tour.
In February this year, he deleted all of his tweets defending his meeting a couple of months earlier with President Trump at the businessman’s New York offices. – news.sky.com
