Karim Benzema dropped for Euro 2016
The French Football Federation (FFF) will not consider Karim Benzema for selection for the 2016 European Championships.
The striker is in red-hot form for Real Madrid, but his involvement in a sex-tape scandal involving French teammate Mathieu Valbuena has cost him his place.
The FFF banned the 28-year-old in December for alledgedly attempting to blackmail Valbuena, something which Benzema has furiously denied.
And after a meeting with FFF president Noel Le Graet and coach Didier Deschamps today, he pre-empted an official announcement with a revealing Tweet.
“Sadly for me and for all who have backed and supported me, I will not be selected for the Euros in France,” he posted.
It’s a massive blow for Les Bleus, with Benzema having scored 25 goals in 29 appearances for Real this season. KickOff
