Lawrenson: Balotelli a waste of time

FORMER Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has slammed the output of Mario Balotelli, branding the striker “an absolute waste of time”.

Balotelli has scored four goals in all competitions since joining the Reds in a €20 million move from AC Milan in August.

Lawrenson criticised the Italian after Liverpool’s goalless home draw with Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday.

“Forget about Mario Balotelli. He is an absolute waste of time. He shouldn’t be anywhere near this team,” Lawrenson told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I can see why Brendan Rodgers threw him on against Blackburn as he might just create something but 99 times out of 100 he will let you down.”
