DESPITE rumours heavily linking Leicester City star Riyaad Mahrez to Arsenal, the winger is yet to receive an official offer.

The Algeria international played a starring role in The Foxes’ history-making Premier League title victory last year, netting 17 league goals as the club claimed it’s first-ever top-flight crown.

The skilful forward failed to match his form of last season this campaign however, netting just six times as Leicester finished 12th, with the player stating in May that he wished to depart at the end of the season.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted he is keen on the 26-year-old, who has however admitted that no offer for his services has been made.

“There’s a big difference between an offer and speculation, so there is nothing on the table at the moment,” he told Elheddaf Television.

“The chairman and I agreed that I would stay another year at the club and that he would let me leave at the end of the season.

“I think it would be the right time for me to leave, I have experienced everything at this football club.”

Mahrez was named the 2015/16 PFA Player of the Year and was rewarded with a new four-year contract last year, which however has no buyout clause. –www.kickoff.com
