Lewis Hamilton risks crashing his car AGAIN after being snapped using his phone while driving

JUST days after crashing his £1.5million Pagani Zonda in Monaco, Lewis Hamilton has risked another accident after using his phone while at the wheel.

The Formula 1 world champion was photographed using his iPhone while driving a Mercedes SUV.

This latest incident comes less than two weeks after he drove into three parked cars in the early hours of the morning on the streets of Monte Carlo.

Hamilton, who was brethalysed at the time but tested negative, blamed “heavy partying” for his lapse of concentration.

A Monaco Palais de Justice spokesperson said after his crash: “Mr Hamilton’s foot slipped on the brake and clutch pedals and his vehicle struck three parked cars. He was tested for alcohol but the result was negative.”

Hamilton admitted that he had been partying before the crash, but that it was a lack of sleep, rather than intoxication, that caused the accident.

“It was a result of heavy partying and not much rest for a week and a half,” Hamilton said. “I am a bit run down. I have been non-stop and trying to fit training in at the same time and not getting a lot of sleep.”

Hamilton said he only made “light contact” with the stationary vehicles, and he reassured his fans he is certain to take part in this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix.

Immediately after the crash, he posted online saying: “I’ve not been well with a fever but I also had a road accident in Monaco on Monday night.

“Whilst ultimately, it is nobody’s business, there are people knowing my position that will try to take advantage of the situation and make a quick buck. NO problem.

“Nobody was hurt, which is the most important thing. But the car was obviously damaged and I made very light contact with a stationary vehicle.

“Talking with the team and my doctor, we decided together that it was best for me to rest at home and leave a day later. But I am feeling better and am currently boarding the plane to Brazil.”

In 2007 Hamilton was banned from driving in France for speeding at 123mph in a Mercedes CLK. He was given a £430 on-the-spot fine and his car was impounded.

He was also fined £300 for ‘hooning’ (driving recklessly) in Melbourne in 2010.-mirror.co.uk
