Manchester City hold Real Madrid to goalless draw at home
MANCHESTER City managed the unexpected by holding Real Madrid to a goalless stalemate at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening.
City fought hard as Joe Hart was on top of his game to ensure a clean-sheet at home over Los Blancos in their UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg.
The visitors were without star striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who is battling with a thigh strain, and failed to get on the scoresheet for only the third time this season.
Despite the scoreline suggesting otherwise, it was a captivating encounter as both sides fought hard and came close to scoring on a number of occassions.
The Manchester-based outfit will now travel to the Santiago Bernabeu with all to play for as they hold an advantage of being able to secure an away goal victory, should they manage a scoring draw.
However, Manuel Pellegrini’s side have been dealt a blow following an injury to influential playmaker David Silver, who could be ruled out of the return leg next week. Kickoff.com
