Matthew Rusike set for Swedish switch following Halmstads BK relegation

ZIMBABWEAN striker Matthew Rusike is poised to find yet another new home following the relegation of his club Halmstads BK from the Swedish Allsvenskan to the Superettan last year.

The relegation of Halmstads has triggered an option for the former Kaizer Chiefs forward to leave as a free agent.

KickOff.com has been told that Rusike – who scored four goals in 10 starts and one substitute appearance – is not short of admirers in the Swedish top league with several clubs keen on taking him on board ahead of the new season which gets underway after the winter break at the beginning of April.

“There is interest from other clubs in the top league in Sweden and it will get clear as the clubs get back to pre-season in the weeks to come ahead of the start of the new season in April. He has done well and made an impression during his time in Sweden,” says a source.

Rusike left Chiefs at the expiry of his contract in June last year and signed for Portuguese club CD Nacional Madeira on a two-year deal.

However, a few weeks later contractual troubles led to the 25-year-old parting ways with the club and heading out to Scandinavia. -KickOff.com
