NASH athletics competition – Powered by First Mutual

First Mutual, through the First Mutual Foundation provides orphans and vulnerable children with educational support to reintegrate into formal school.

THE National Association of Secondary Heads (NASH) has partnered First Mutual for the Harare Province athletics competition to be held on Friday  March 4 at Eaglesvale School, Harare.

Approximately 300 athletes from the seven districts in Harare will be competing to qualify for the NASH National Competition to be held in Mutare at Hillcrest College from March 16-17.  The NASH National competitions will subsequently select best athletes for the regional tournament to be held in Namibia, from May 5-7.

This event is part of the First Mutual in the community initiatives which aims to promote a raised the standard of living through various corporate social responsibility initiatives. Through this sponsorship, First Mutual is supporting and promoting sports in schools as sport is an important element in the education curricula, and indeed is now a professional career that is sustaining many individuals globally.

In addition, First Mutual, through the First Mutual Foundation provides orphans and vulnerable children with educational support to reintegrate into formal school. The total number of primary and secondary school children supported to date is 110 plus three university students studying medicine, risk insurance and commerce respectively and this development complements its support for education and child development.

The main discipline for the NASH Harare Province Competition is athletics and included in the track and field events are long jump, shot put, triple jump, discus and javelin. Each event will take one participant from each of the seven districts. There are a total of one hundred and ten (110) track and field events.

All students in the Harare Province schools, teachers and heads of schools, parents, Ministry of Education Officials, Officials from First Mutual Holdings and the general public are expected to attend the event.
The National Association of Secondary Heads comprises all secondary and high schools in Zimbabwe, and NASH Harare Province iscomposed of eighty five (85) secondary schools in the Harare Province seven districts which include Chitungwiza District, Mbare – Hatfield District, Glen View –Mufakose District, Warren Park – Mabelreign District, Northern – Central District, Tafara – Mabvuku District and High Glen – Highfield District

NASH’s main objective is to promote sports in secondary schools. It organizes sports in many sporting disciplines including athletics, soccer tennis, netball, basketball and rugby amongst others. Competitions are organized from inter-house level at school level up to regional level.NASH is a member of COSSASA (Confederation of School Sports Associations of Southern Africa) comprising of Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland, Botswana, Angola and Zimbabwe.
